Encampment, Wyoming
Handcrafted breads, time-honored pastries, and thoughtfully selected provisions — made with intention and shared with care, right here on McCaffrey Ave.
Our Story
Beacon in the Wind began with a simple conviction: that the best food comes from patience, good ingredients, and the willingness to do things the way they're supposed to be done.
Located on McCaffrey Avenue in the heart of Encampment, we are a bakery and grocery rooted in the rhythm of the community. Our ovens start before dawn. Our shelves are stocked with items we'd proudly set on our own tables. Nothing here is rushed, and nothing here is arbitrary.
Whether you're stopping in for a fresh loaf on your way home or gathering ingredients for a Sunday meal, we're glad you're here.
What We Offer
Every item is made or selected with the same standard: would we serve this to family?
Sourdough, country loaves, and specialty batches baked fresh each morning using traditional fermentation and locally sourced flours.
Baked Daily
Butter croissants, fruit tarts, and seasonal desserts — each one finished by hand and displayed with pride behind our counter.
Seasonal Rotation
Thoughtfully chosen pantry essentials, specialty oils, preserves, and staples — items we've tasted, approved, and chosen for quality.
Hand-SelectedOur Philosophy
The principles that guide every batch, every shelf, and every interaction at our door.
We don't cut corners or rush the process. Long ferments, proper proofing, and attention to detail are non-negotiable — that's how flavor is built.
We are neighbors first. Every product we make and every item we stock is chosen with the people of Encampment in mind — because this is our home too.
If it doesn't meet our standard, it doesn't reach our shelves. We'd rather offer less and do it right than fill space with anything less than genuine.
